What The Family Group Chat has to do with Waymaker, business ideas, side hustles, and actually starting.
I have always had a lot of ideas.
Business ideas. Product ideas. Creative ideas. Content ideas. Ideas for my kids. Ideas for clients. Ideas that show up when I'm driving, folding laundry, talking to my daughter, playing with my grandson, or looking at something online and thinking, "Wait, why doesn't this exist?"
Some ideas are serious. Some are funny. Some are useful. Some are probably completely unhinged. And some are the kind of thing you immediately want to send to the family group chat.
That is part of why I created this site.
The Family Group Chat started as a place for real life and fun finds worth sharing. Funny products. Useful things. Baby time-savers. Business thoughts. Creative experiments. Mom life. Grandma life. Things I'm building. Things I'm learning. Things I can't keep to myself.
But it is also something bigger than that.
It is a real build-in-public experiment.
I'm using this site to test what it looks like to take an idea from "this could be fun" to "this could actually become something useful." And that is exactly the kind of thing I'm building Waymaker to help with.
Why Waymaker exists
Most people do not have a shortage of ideas.
They have ideas in their notes app. Ideas they have talked about for years. Ideas they would try if they had more time, more clarity, more confidence, more help, or someone to walk through the messy middle with them.
The hard part is not always having the idea. The hard part is knowing what to do next.
You start asking yourself: Is this a real business or just a random thought? Who is this actually for? What would I call it? How would I explain it? Could this make money? Do I need a website? Do I need content? Do I need a product? Do I need a course? Do I need a Shopify store? Do I need to post on TikTok? Do I need to stop overthinking and just start?
And then suddenly the idea that felt exciting starts to feel heavy.
That is where a lot of people stop. Not because they are lazy. Not because they are not capable. But because the path from idea to action can feel overwhelming.
Waymaker is being designed to help people move through that part.
What Waymaker is meant to help you do
Waymaker is for people who have a business idea, side hustle, service, product, creative project, or personal brand they want to build, but they need help making it clearer and more doable.
It is not about giving people a generic business plan and saying, "Good luck."
It is about helping someone understand:
- What they want to build
- Who they want to help
- What kind of builder they are
- What makes their idea different
- What the first version could look like
- What to test first
- What to say, what to create, what to stop overcomplicating
- What the next step should be
Because most ideas do not need to start as a giant business. Sometimes they need to start as a page. Or a post. Or a simple offer. Or a conversation. Or a tiny test. Or a product recommendation. Or a weekend experiment. Or one honest piece of content that says, "Here is what I'm trying, and here is what I'm learning."
That is what I'm doing here.
The Builder DNA idea
One of the parts of Waymaker I'm most excited about is Builder DNA.
Builder DNA is based on something I believe deeply: not everyone builds the same way.
Some people are visionaries. Some are teachers. Some are makers. Some are connectors. Some are operators. Some are storytellers. Some are researchers. Some are idea machines who have 92 tabs open in their brain at all times. And some have a mix of all of it.
The problem is that a lot of business advice assumes everyone should build the same way. Post like this. Sell like this. Launch like this. Wake up at 5 a.m. Follow this funnel. Use this exact framework.
But what if that does not fit you? What if the way you build needs to match your personality, strengths, energy, stage of life, family responsibilities, and actual capacity?
That is what Builder DNA is meant to help uncover. It is designed to help you understand how you naturally think, create, decide, and get stuck. Because once you understand yourself as a builder, it becomes easier to choose a path that you can actually follow.
Not someone else's perfect plan. Your next right step.
The AI cofounder idea
Another part of Waymaker is the idea of having an AI cofounder that understands you.
Not a cold chatbot. Not a fake guru. Not something that makes you feel behind. More like a guide that can help you think through your idea, organize your thoughts, challenge your assumptions, and help you take action.
A cofounder-style assistant that remembers what you are building, understands your Builder DNA, and helps you move from confusion to clarity.
Because building anything can feel lonely. Especially when you are doing it around real life. Around kids. Around family. Around work. Around caregiving. Around self-doubt. Around the normal chaos of being a human.
Sometimes you do not need someone to give you a giant strategy. Sometimes you need someone to say: Start here. Make this smaller. Test this first. Say it this way. You are overcomplicating this. This part matters. That part can wait. Here is the next step.
That is the kind of support Waymaker is being built to provide.
Why The Family Group Chat is part of the experiment
The Family Group Chat is one of my own tests. I wanted to see if I could take a fun, real-life idea and build it into something useful.
A site about things worth sharing. Not just products. Not just affiliate links. Not just "buy this." But short reads, honest takes, useful finds, business thoughts, AI tips, mom life, grandma life, things I'm trying, and things I would actually send to someone I love.
Some products might be things we try. Some might be things we love. Some might be things we are watching because the internet is clearly having a moment. Some might be funny. Some might be practical. Some might be baby time-savers. Some might be business tools. Some might be products that make us say, "Do we need this?" and then immediately send the link anyway.
The point is not to become another spammy product site. The point is to build something with a point of view. Something useful. Something honest. Something human. And to show the process as I go.
What I'm testing
With The Family Group Chat, I'm testing a few things in public:
- Can I use AI to research trends without losing my own voice?
- Can I build a content site that feels helpful instead of salesy?
- Can product recommendations feel honest and human?
- Can a family-focused site include business, creativity, motherhood, grandma life, and fun finds without feeling random?
- Can I turn small ideas into useful content?
- Can I test affiliate products in a way that feels transparent?
- Can I show what works and what does not?
- Can I use Waymaker principles on my own idea while building Waymaker for other people?
That is the experiment. And honestly, I think that is how more people should build. Not perfectly. Not secretly. Not waiting until everything is polished. But openly, thoughtfully, and with a willingness to learn.
What I hope this becomes
I hope The Family Group Chat becomes a place people visit when they want something worth sending. A funny find. A useful product. A baby time-saver. A business thought. A little encouragement. A creative idea. A shortcut that actually helps. A reminder that you can build something from where you are.
And I hope Waymaker becomes a place people go when they are ready to take their own idea seriously. Not because they have everything figured out. But because they are ready to stop circling the idea and start shaping it.
Your idea does not have to be perfect to begin. It just has to be clear enough to test.
That is what I am reminding myself too.
The real reason I'm sharing this
I'm sharing this because I know how many people are carrying ideas they have not started yet.
Maybe it is a side hustle. Maybe it is a product. Maybe it is a service. Maybe it is a course. Maybe it is a blog. Maybe it is a shop. Maybe it is a tool. Maybe it is a tiny idea that keeps tapping you on the shoulder.
And maybe you keep telling yourself you will start when you have more time, more confidence, more clarity, or more proof that it will work.
But sometimes clarity comes after you start. Sometimes confidence comes after the first small test. Sometimes the idea becomes real because you gave it a place to live.
That is what I'm doing here. The Family Group Chat is one of my places to start. Waymaker is what I'm building to help other people find theirs.
So this is me, building in public. Testing the idea. Sharing the process. Learning as I go. And hopefully proving that you do not have to figure it all out alone before you begin.
Sometimes you just need a starting point, a little guidance, and a next step you can actually take.
Where the agency comes in
A lot of what I'm building right now started with one simple goal: I wanted to build my dream product and create more time for the people I love.
That is part of why I built an agency in the first place. Agency work has let me help clients with strategy, marketing, AI, product ideas, websites, content, launches, and growth — while also giving me a path to build something bigger: Waymaker.
Waymaker is the dream product I kept coming back to. And The Family Group Chat is one of my own experiments inside that bigger story — right alongside AI Side Hustle, Waymaker Youth, CodeTeachers, and the other ideas I care about.
Some of it is business. Some of it is family. Some of it is creative. Some of it is practical. Some of it is just fun. But all of it comes back to the same question: what if the thing you keep talking about could actually become something?
That is what I want Waymaker to help people do.
